When watching a film it is not only the image which portrays emotion but the music as well; take a scene from a film that has made you jump, cry or laugh and then take away the music and see if it has the same effect? It would most likely not have the same impact against you since music is a large part in supporting emotion within a film.
Film scores can consist of just a single piano to a full orchestra and still have the same effect, the challenge is choosing which instrumentation is appropriate before composing a unique soundtrack. Our typical process for film scoring is for the customer to provide us a detailed brief (as well as any rough-cut or completed footage if possible) We then create a few rough examples from which the client can give feedback before we complete the final soundtrack.
Pricing is dependent on the length of material and its complexity since every project is unique however we are able to work to an agreed maximum budget. At the top end of our pricing structure we can create audio to video footage using visual cues as a guide to create a completely unique soundtrack that compliments the image. Another option would be to create a soundtrack based on a brief supplied by the customer with details of the style, mood and pace of the project. The least expensive option is to license an existing composition to use with the project from our soundbank of pre-composed material.
